Why a tune up?  What can it do for you?

Microsoft constantly updates the Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office applications.  New updates are released every day and made available through Windows Update.   A three year old computer is at least 60 updates behind in system and software upgrades.  This fact alone is the most common reason for computers slowing down or having poor software performance issues.   The Microsoft Update Service is a free service; yet, dial-up users usually don't take advantage of this free service due to slow download speeds.  Many users don't understand how to use the service.

A brief description of the PC Tune-Up.

The whole process takes about 3 hours for a computer specialist to perform.  This same process could take a novice user 8 hours to a few days to complete; and if there are Virus infections to be cleaned, the novice home user may never accomplish the task.  All updates and patches to the operating system and Microsoft Branded Software need to be downloaded from the internet and then installed; If you are using a Dial-Up internet connection, the downloading all software updates and security patches will take about 12 hours; also, if the PC was purchased before Feb, 2005 it may still be running Windows XP Service Pack 1 version; if so, we must bring Windows XP Home/Pro version up to XP Service Pack 2.  (This is the big patch including the personal firewall).  Installing XP Service Pack 2 takes 58 minutes, but only after you finish downloading it from the WEB.  On a dial-up connection, that single download alone can take 6 hours.  Only after all this is successfully completed can we remove any virus or spy-ware infections?
