I provide support to clients using both Dentrix and Eaglesoft Dental practice management software; also the DX-Image, and Shick Digital X-Ray systems.
Dentrix and Eaglesoft are complete Dental Practice management solutions that require slightly different networking environments.
Both Dentrix and Eaglesoft can be installed on a single PC or a file server, and accessed through ad-hock Workgroup Shares or a Microsoft Windows network client, or from a Windows 2003 Terminal Server remote client.
Note that digital x-rays can be viewed from a terminal server client, but actually taking the x-ray may require a Wide Area Network (WAN) connection. The ability to actually take x-rays at a remote terminal client will require digital x-ray hardware drivers that support terminal services port redirection. It can be done but is not a straight forward setup.
Every network and situation are different, there are very few hard and fast rules in computer networking. No one solution will fit everyone's needs. Angelo Consulting will evalutate your specific and unique requirements, design the correct network infrastructure to support the practice management software and Digital Imaging you have chosen. Dentrix works with Dentrix DX-Image , Shick Digital Imaging, and a few other imaging products. Every variation of these products will require slightly different network and/or workstation configurations.
